Responding to a client's needs with thoughtful, individual designs is the most important aspect of our practice and is key in creating inspired architecture. Great architecture should not only elevate the spirits of the user and viewer, but also balance value and economy while still expressing the client's ideals. True design should be sustainable, adaptable and sensitive to its surroundings. These principles are the foundation for our design work and are how we measure a project's success.

Concept - All of our projects begin with conversations between ourselves and the client. By actively listening to the client's needs we are able to produce preliminary designs which can start as hand sketches, programming documents or even 3d models. This conceptual phase is highly collaborative and is effective for establishing the objectives of the project both visually and practically. We are able to aid in feasibility studies as well as outlining project goals.

Design - Our designs are individual to reflect each of our clients' ideals. We pride ourselves on unique design solutions that meet both the modern needs of our clients, but will also the test of time. Our practice features new construction, renovations, additions and tenant fit outs. From office to home architecture our projects range in scope and size and include the following types: housing, restaurant, retail, office, banking, hospitality, multi-family, apartments, condos and property development. Our design services include: feasibility studies, existing building evaluations, programming, existing conditions field surveys, preliminary design, design development, construction documentation, code review analysis, interior design, landscape design and construction control administration.

Structure - We use the latest engineering analysis and cad software to provide design services that ensure compliance with established codes and technical guidelines. Our design and analysis services include: existing structure analysis, shear wall designs, insurance claims, foundation reports, framing plans, and code compliance reports. The materials we typically utilize are conventional lumber, structural composites (LVL and Glue-lam), engineered I-joists, steel, tube steel and concrete. 3D: While plans, elevations and sections are printed in 2D, we experience our environment in 3D. This disconnect can cause difficulties interpreting the design. We will craft your project in 3D within the computer on the latest CAD and 3D software to provide you with a model that may be easily understood. This improves design efficiency, reduces project costs and results in highly effective communication.

Build - Once the design is complete and permits are "in hand," our job is not complete. We will work on your behalf and with the builder to ensure conformance with plans, answer requests for clarification and above all to create the best possible end product. Our construction administration services include: bidding & negotiations, permitting, project management, construction control affidavits, site observation reports and final punch lists. We assure that there are no surprises at the end and that the client's needs are fully met. Our job is done when the client is able to utilize their space as they envisioned.

Historic - We strive to preserve, conserve and renovate historic structures with great care and sensitivity. Our intent is our challenge - to revitalize both purpose and function to historic and existing structures through adaptive re-use, revitalization strategies and planning. By working with our clients we are able to build a more sustainable world by preserving and celebrating the historic value of the particular building. We can aid the client in balancing sensitive design with modern amenities and technical innovation to provide an effective, long-lasting solution.

3D - While plans, elevations and sections are printed in 2D, we experience our environment in 3D. This disconnect can cause difficulties interpreting the design. We will craft your project in 3D within the computer on the latest CAD and 3D software to provide you with a model that may be easily understood. This improves design efficiency, reduces project costs and results in highly effective communication.

Code - Many of our projects begin with the code being a major determining factor in how a client should proceed. We provide complete code review analysis of the International Building Codes including: IBC, IRC, IEBC, ADA, MAAB and local zoning by-laws as well as Energy Code Analysis (ResCheck, IECC Prescriptive Code). As nationally accredited (NCARB) architects we currently maintain active registrations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire and are experts in navigating these codes to protect our clients interests and public safety. Determining the proper code requirements for a project can be extremely confusing to a client especially when navigating the international existing building code or addressing accessibility requirements. We will eliminate the confusion and endeavor to guide our client to the most favorable result.
