As a basketball player and point guard for 18+ years, my role on the court was to be a leader, facilitator, and to put my teammates in positions where they could succeed. Today, in my role with The Bulfinch Group, I am fortunate to have that same opportunity to put people in a position to experience their own definition of success relative to the various aspects of their finances.
You can experience financial success one of two ways - (1) going forward or (2) not going backward. The most efficient strategy is one that has "structural integrity" and promotes both. When you think of structural integrity, consider a bridge, a skyscraper, or a deck. These structures must be able to withstand the most extreme circumstances. In the absence of integrity, the structure collapses.
The following eight items are critically important in evaluating the structural integrity of your personal financial plan. In order for the plan to be working as efficiently and effectively as possible, these items must be properly coordinated and aligned with your personal objectives.
- Property & Casualty Insurance
- Income Protection
- Legal Documents
- Life Insurance
- High Savings Rate
- Ample Liquidity
- Limit Volatility
- Avoid Bad-Debt or Over-Leveraging Debt
Our role is to illustrate how these various aspects of your finances are all connected and help you achieve structural integrity so that the plan is successful no matter what circumstances are thrown your way.
When I'm not working, I enjoy playing and coaching basketball, trying new restaurants, and traveling when possible. I probably enjoy sports too much, whether it's basketball, fantasy football, playoff hockey, or golf. If there's a game on, I'm usually watching it.
